The departure is from the Rifugio Sapienza ( at 1.910 m a.s.l. - South Etna) you take first a modern cable car at 9.00 am.
The path begins by foot on the southern side of the volcano at an altitude of 1.740m in the area of Vetore Plain. This route brings together important geological and uncontested botanical elements, in fact you can admire old eruptive centres, immense lava extensive, hornitos, some endemic plants of ETNA.
Moreover following the path, you can visit the eruption of 1780, the "S. Barbara Grotto", and old "tacca", a place where snow was collected and brought down the valley during the summer, then the giant tracing of a tree and finally the craters of the recent 1985 - 2002 - 2003 eruption.
After visit of the botanic garden called "New Gussonea" the itinerary concludes in the area "Serra la Nave". |
